I’m not saying that Eliot Spitzer isn’t a gigantic hypocrite or that breaking the law (especially when you were elected on a “Mr. Clean” law-and-order platform) shouldn’t get you removed from office.
And I’ve got to say further that I’m none too fond of what he’s done to his wife or three teenage daughters, though that’s obviously their issue and not mine or the general public’s.
But I will reiterate my long-standing position that prostitution should be legal. It makes no sense to me that consenting adults can’t do whatever consenting adults want to do in the bedroom without the government peering in and wagging a finger at it.
It also seems extraordinary that it is illegal to sell what it is perfectly legal to give away.
