The Republican Party was once the party of small government, free trade, traditional values, principled foreign policy leadership and, most important of all, adherence to the Constitution.
That was a long time ago. Who was the last “small government” Republican? Nixon? I’m not sure if it’s more amazing that someone would only now leave the GOP—I left when they voted to approve torture back circa 2005—or that so many Republicans remain in the face overwhelming Trumpian violations of their so-called principles.
