The future is so bright I’ve got to wear a mask.
There are two important points to be made here.
First, the Oregon Health Authority’s track record is not confidence inspiring, so one shouldn’t assume that they’re any more right about this than they’ve been about anything else.
Second, none of this modeling takes into account the governor’s recent masking order (or “suggestion” if you prefer since there’s no enforcement mechanism). Masking works with sufficient participation.
That said, this is a grim Oregon forecast ranging from 910 to over 5,000 new daily infections by July 16. Feel free, as the OHA does, to discount the “optimistic” scenario presented in the report. Nobody thinks there’s good news ahead.
