Sha’Carri Richardson tests positive for marijuana, status for Tokyo Olympics in jeopardy. This is the right response:
“I want to take responsibility for my actions,” Richardson said. “I know what I did. I know what I’m supposed to do. I know what I’m allowed not to do. But I still made that decision. I’m not making an excuse.”
The Olympic rule prohibiting marijuana should be scrapped. Marijuana confers no performance benefit, it is legal in Oregon where the Olympic trials were held, and the US Olympic team is worse than it would have been. This is a nonsensical ban.
