Town halls held by Oregon’s congressional delegation have been packed in the weeks since President Donald Trump took office, with laid off federal workers and other Oregonians seeking outlets to voice their fears that Trump’s cuts and policies will upend their lives.
Betteridge’s Law of Headlines was coined by Ian Betteridge, a British technology journalist in 2009. It applies to sensationalized or clickbait-style headlines that pose questions instead of making definitive statements. It says that the answer to any headlines of this type is always “NO” because if the answer were “yes,” the headline would state it outright rather than asking a question.
This is a good example of that.
