We visited Joe, Carol, and Ella up in their Vancouver, Washington hospital room. Ella Caroline Kann is an absolutely beautiful newborn. She slept mostly while we were there, but also stretched, yawned, smiled, and otherwise tried out her body. Joe and Carol are both a little tired but otherwise look exceptionally well. (I strongly suspect I did not look so good when Jonah was born.)
Jonah did a lot of pointing at Ella, but he also pointed at the balloons in the room a great deal. He was perhaps too busy making friends with Joe and Carol’s relatives (not to mention the hospital staff) to pay Ella the attention she deserved. Maybe Jonah realized Ella wasn’t ready to give him the high fives he’s been requesting lately. He might simply be waiting until she is.
