So four more years of Bush. To say I’m surprised by the result is the understatement of the year. To say I’m depressed by the result, well, that’s the runner-up.
It’s easy to blame the candidate or to blame the electorate (what kind of boob votes for Bush?), but the truth is that nationwide I do not understand the electorate like I thought I did, which is in large measure because two of the things I value most, wisdom and intelligence, are not seen as presidential voting issues for most people in America today. That is psychologically painful for me. Undoubtedly, there are other issues of which I’m unaware. On the brighter side, all the local issues and candidates went the way I anticipated.
Yeah, I’m feelin’ real good about that.
