An OK first half turned into a boring second half as everybody got tired. (And who can blame them? What is this, seven games in the last month?) Del Pierro was a huge sub for Italy in OT, instantly revitalizing the Italian offense. Very surprised that Germany seemed to turn offensively timid in the 2nd half, passing up shots in the middle to instead play the ball wide.
The irony of all this is that Germany is the first good team that Italy has faced, and nobody on the Italian team has done much to make a name for themselves this Cup (the aforementioned Del Pierro excepted). You would not say the same thing about Germany with Ballack, Klose, and Podoski, but the bottom line is Italy 2, Germany 0.
