I had a very interesting weekend, but first I need to talk about some weird and scary that happened on Friday. Mommy and Daddy were in the room next to mine and Mom was holding me while talking with Daddy. Then Daddy took this big wood and metal thing called a “hammer” and hit the wall. It was surreal. One of the two people I love most in the world, and he’s hauling off and destroying my house! That left me pretty shaken, and I could tell Dad felt pretty badly about upsetting me because he stopped right away and came over and joined me and Mom in a group hug. Still, something strange is going on in that room next to mine, I’m sure of it.

Anyway, on to the weekend. We drove up to Portland to for a brief visit with some cousins of mine, Lucy and Noor. They are twins and were just celebrating their first birthday. We didn’t stay long, but I overheard Mom and Dad promising to see everybody again soon.

Next we stopped at my godparents’ Joe and Carol’s house in Battle Ground. Carol’s tummy is really big. Apparently she and Joe are expecting a visitor soon called “Baby Kann.” Are these things related? It appears I’m being kept in the dark, but I have a sneaking suspicion that these things are related. I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but I’d swear something is going on. Regardless, there was a lot of talk about this Baby Kann, so I’m looking forward to meeting him or her.

While I’m thinking of it, I wanted to say that one thing that was neat about this get-together was just how much time I got to spend with all the different people there. Mommy and Daddy were always around if I needed them, but I enjoyed hanging out with all my tall friends.

Eventually I got tired, and I fell asleep on the sofa at Joe and Carol’s. The next thing I knew I was home asleep in my crib. That is so disconcerting! I let Dad know about it, and he gave me a nice backrub just for sharing.

Today, we celebrated Mom’s birthday. It’s not entirely clear to me what a birthday is, but I hear that I get to have one next month so it can’t be all bad. We went to Grandma and Grandpa’s, and Uncle Bret showed up. Then everybody went to a Mexican restaurant. They brought out some floaty thing called a “balloon” for Mom. Me? I just don’t quite trust them. We took a few home, and I’m gonna keep an eye on them. It makes no sense to me that they fall up instead of down.

Like I say, interesting weekend.
